PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT CONTINUES ON THE FoldingBlok™ BARRIER The Folding Block barrier has just worked through an exhaustive 30,000 cycle endurance trial where the barrier was operated 24 hours a day 7 days a week in temperatures up to 45 degrees and down to 5 degrees. No mechanical maintainence was required during the test period. The cyclic rate for testing was at 2000 cycles per day for the initial 30,000 cycles and will be increased to 4000 cycles for further testing. The initial cyclic rate of 2000 per day equates to 300 vehicles per day for a 3 month period, a very busy secure facility!

APEC CHATTER
One of our customers used our Quickfit Barriers to secure their site during the APEC gathering. We were delighted to be driven over by all manner of visiting dignitries, alas not including the semi-official representatives of the "Chasers War on Everything"!
Our LW 3 barriers were cycled an average of 1000 times a day over the 8 days that they were deployed, with no failures and no downtime. Typically the barriers had in excess of 3000 vehicles a day over them. As a direct result of this deployment our sales staff have spoken to a number of security organisations who were unaware of our products.
SUPIC & SUVIC
(Suspect Person Isolation Compound and Suspect Vehicle Isolation Compound) designs are completed and modelled. These names are registered trademarks of AVS-elli describing a blast and ballistically capable demountable containment devices that we have designed to cater for an exploding requirement in the worldwide security market. The designs feature input from our friends at Teraproof in Northern Ireland with their experise in blast management being called on to develop the blast panels with AVS-elli providing the structure and load management framework.
EU & US PATENTS
Great News from our patent attorneys at Callinan Laurie, with advice that our patent applications in the EU and the USA have been accepted in both those major markets. This will allow us to begin selling activities in those markets through our distribution network, with our first offers in the UK being completed by the Teraproof organisation in the last week.
LAND WARFARE CONFERENCE - Adelaide 24-27 October 2007.

NORTHERN IRELAND 'HOMELAND SECURITY NETWORK' BRIEF
UK USER-COMMUNITY
AVS-elli is fortunate to have a very solid and respected UK agent in “Teraproof” – specialist security engineers at the forefront of hardening building structures against blast effects. In October 2006, a select group of NI security suppliers met with UK homeland security agencies to present their capabilities, and engage the User Community in a frank and open forum concerning their requirements and capability gaps.
The event was hosted by the Home Office Scientific Development Branch (HOSDB) and attendees included representatives from the National Security Advisory Committee (NSAC), Counter-Terrorism Science & Technology Centre (CTSTC) of Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), Security Services Group (SSG-Defence Estates) plus a number of architectural agents servicing this sector. AVS-elli FoldingBlok™ capability was presented by Teraproof.
TRADESHOW NETWORKING
This year AVS-elli has participated again in several major conference & exhibition forums to promote the FoldingBlok™ in the domestic market. At Canberra's Security in Government 2006, we displayed the manual barrier, and at Safeguarding Australia 2006 we demonstrated the hydraulic barrier. We attended the ASIAL Conference this year and benefited from a range of interesting speakers on significant topics including Professor Robert Page ( University of Chicago ) on Suicide Attacks, Malcolm Nance (ex US Navy Seal) on Global Jihad, and many others.
Dr Anthony Bergin of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute raised some interesting topics for continued debate:
|
Should all users (those who benefit, including the general community) and not just business, bear the increasing burden of security costs? |
|
The importance of understanding Radicalism in the ongoing fight against homegrown terrorism |
|
Would the ADF Reserves be better utilized in a more formal & structured role within the national security effort? |
|
Do we require a dedicated Minister for Counter-Terrorism/Homeland Security, assisting the Prime Minister? |
|
The critical need for the Private Sector to be proactive and vigilant, and know how to respond effectively to a terror incident. |
